Awana Grand Prix

Hello everyone! Today we decided to make our Grand Prix cars.. (yes, I will clarify...The cars actually don't need to be turned in in till March 22nd, and we come back from Florida, March 21st.No pressure right? ๐Ÿ˜‰)  Luckily, we got help from Grammie and Papa's car construction and snack service. ;)

(The car kits)
Right away Papa and Dad went out to the garage to start cutting the cars when KABAM!! The saw broke.
Seriously. ๐Ÿ˜ž You. have. got. to. be. kidding. me.  Luckily we could return the saw because.... well I don't know why. But, we got a  new saw.

Four out of the five of us were actually making and entering cars into the race. Hattie is too little to race yet. (Next year!!๐Ÿ˜„) So we took a chunk off of Ben's block and made it into Miss Hattie Joy's masterpiece.

After the cars were cut we sanded them smooth as silk...

Painting came next...(Which is if you ask me is the BEST part..๐Ÿ˜) I had decided to do a panda car and the painting was where it would all come together.

I think Hattie agrees that painting is the best!! ๐Ÿ˜‚

The painting took quite a while to accomplish, this wasn't a small task!!

After the painting was the wheels. Remember when I said that Hattie wasn't going to be competing in the Grand Prix? She didn't have a car kit and we had to cut her a car from Ben's wood block remember? So she didn't have any wheels either (they come in the kit) and I was pretty sure Hattie was going to be upset if she didn't get to roll her masterpiece around. Grammie looked around for some wheel replacements and Voila!! she came up with some genius substitutes (after some trial and error๐Ÿ˜‰ but eventually) and the grand prize winner was.... drum roll please... Wait I'll see if you can guess from the picture. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Plastic Water bottle caps!!!

My panda was coming along nicely in all of this. I started off with a coat of black. Then I painted the head area and tummy white. The ears and legs were black. I added the face and toes. I put on some decals. Then that was it!!!

And the finished product!!!
๐Ÿผ ๐Ÿผ ๐Ÿผ PANDA!!

Everyone's (finished) grand prix cars!!! My Panda! Cora's rainbow corvette. Lily's Flower-mobile. Ben's car. (I don't know what to call his!) Hattie's water bottle cap car.
Sorry that no one is looking at the camera ๐Ÿ˜ Apparently something super duper interesting is going on next to the camera instead.

Well gotta go...

Preschool Letter H!

Hey peeps! I decided I would do a blog post on Hattie Joy's  preschool day! I hear her teacher is an awesome girl! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Hehe.. The letter of this week is the letter H. Hattie was quite excited to hear that we were learning the first letter of her name!๐Ÿ˜„ I posted kind of lot of stuff, remember this is what we do the whole week! I love http://www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com/my-printables and http://www.inmyworld.com.au/category/preschool/! Erica has the best printables and everything is completely Christ centered. Lavina has the best ideas and a lot of pick and choose type stuff.

Hattie and I started of with the classic letter tracing pages from Confessions of a Homeschooler. She was tickled pink with the little hippo in the corner! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
Her finished work!!
After this we sprayed shaving cream in a Ziploc bag. (she did not want it in a bag however that was the only way I was turning it blue! I am not that adventurous to have colored shaving cream out that could stain anything and everything! *shudder* that would be a colossal mess) I used a bit of blue food coloring and sealed the bag and then she squished it around to mix it up. She thought this was great fun! Just incase the bag was to get a hole I made her stay at the table. She did not like that at all so it became she had to stay on the hard floors (ie no to the carpet). I put my foot down because I don't feel like having to clean a bunch of shaving cream out of the carpet. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
 Squishy, Squishy, Squishy!!
Next we finished made started a book. Hattie Joy LOVES making books. So we made a book. I found these adorable " what I wear in winter q-tip printables " which we made into a book! (She has black and white pages or colored pages. We did the black and white because our color printer wasn't hooked up. If I was to do this again I would defiantly use the colored version.) There was no cover page because this was not originally a book so I quick made one up. Instead of Q-tips we used puffy paint cause that was what we had on hand! We shoved the book making into one day but I wouldn't recommend that she got a little bored after a while. I would split it up between 2-3 days.

These printables are so cute!
She decided she wanted a lot of pink!

The snack was a bit harder cause Hattie girl is gluten-free right now. In the end we went with good 'ol hot cocoa and Honey Nut Cheerios. She was a fan and so was I cause it was simple, she liked it, and it was yummy! (well yummy if you like cereal๐Ÿ˜‰)  Zucchini Summer has lots of snack ideas for every letter.

We read from the Christian Liberty Reader. It has a animal for every letter to read a little report about the animal and what it does. She likes the pictures in it of the animals! She understands most of the harder words. They helpfully bold the harder to understand words.

That was the extent of our Letter H week! It was a lighter week but that's okay! She had fun! (sorry about the lack of pics at the end!) (the phone was dead!๐Ÿ˜ž)

See you next time!!
